Northland

The 'winterless North' of New Zealand. A place full of beautiful bay's, beaches and islands.

We visited the north at the second weekend of February. Friends of use hired a nice house with a view at Otaki Bay. On the way up we had a swim at Bream Bay. The next day we went diving at Poor Nights Islands, 24 km off the Northland's east coast. The place is reputed to have the best scuba diving in all New Zealand and has been rated by many as one of the top diving spots in the world. Even by Jacque Cousteau and his Calypso.
After that we went north to Russel en Waitaigi (famous for the Paheka / Maori treaty that was signed here). Needless to say that the weather was good and we had a great time.
